One of the biggest reasons I believe people hate using the public restroom is due impart because of cleanliness. Most people like clean things and are afraid of germs. What is the one thing everyone tends to avoid?.......The toilet seat.
It turns out the toilet seat is probably the cleanest thing in a bathroom because people go to extreme efforts to avoid touching them. This of course is only true if the darn thing isn't covered in something and wet. We always hope the wetness on the seat is really just water and not what we really think it is.
How often have you (when you really must) hovered over the seat, used the toilet paper to cover, or used the given toilet seat cover when available? Almost everyone performs one if not all of these tasks making the seat one of the cleanest things in the bathroom.
It turns out, the dirtiest thing in the bathroom is something you can't avoid or hover over and that is the Floor. Studies have shown the floor has the most germs of anything in the restroom.
Here is a fact you probably never knew:
When you flush a toilet, it can send tiny droplets of fecal matter 20 feet in the air. This is according to the studies of Charles Gerba of the University of Arizona, which can be found in his book "The Germ Freak's Guide to Outwitting Colds and Flu" (co-author Allison Janes).
Think about this next time you walk into a public restroom. If you didn't want to avoid them already, you probably do now.

Honestly my deal is there is always a toilet people will keep using even after they see its broken, not sure why but it happens, that is so gross. Why would you sit/ hover over something that you know wont flush and has other people shit in it? at least a porta jon is way down in the bottom this is right there.
"... how can you tell if a bathroom is really clean? After all, what looks clean might not really be clean. For instance, a microbiologist at a major university found infectious bacteria in 100 percent of the water samples taken from what appeared to be sparklingly clean whirlpool tubs. The study reported that the samples tested positive for germs and bacteria that can cause rashes, urinary tract infections, and pneumonia."
I personally don't care until I go into a really bad bathroom had an experience once with a Mexico bathroom ... sends shivers down my spine.
In reality and women can all a test to this, bachelor pads can be scarier then the public restroom any day at least you know public restrooms get cleaned everyday ... who knows if the men ever clean theirs, not saying all y'all are like that but most.
